Job summary

Synertec in Melbourne seeks a collaborative Lead Process Engineer to deliver innovative solutions for clients across Water, Life Sciences, Transport and Defence sectors. You will lead multi-project technical delivery and own process engineering deliverables.

Reporting to the Team Manager, you will drive scoping, FEED development, equipment selection, detailed design, testing and commissioning, and support risk management activities including HAZOPs while growing with the business.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in Chemical/Process Engineering.
• Experience in GMP-regulated environments and applying compliance, validation, and quality principles across engineering projects.
• Hands-on and collaborative in process design related projects.
• Experience in process simulation, flow sheeting, P&ID drafting and equipment selection.
• Experience in highly regulated or high-risk industries: Water, Life Sciences, Transport, Energy & Resources, Defence & Manufacturing.
• Engineering consultancy experience is a plus.
• Effective communicator with clients on project requirements and specifications.
• Growth mindset and willingness to learn and develop within the business.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day technical delivery across multiple projects from greenfield to brownfield upgrades.
• Act as the Process Discipline Lead, owning deliverables and ensuring standards compliance.
• Lead scoping, concept design and FEED development, equipment selection, detailed design, testing and commissioning.
• Facilitate risk management including HAZOPs, CHAZOPs and hazard analyses.
• Provide process engineering leadership across clients and projects.
• Collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams and interface with clients/stakeholders.
• Support business development through proposals, tender submissions and client engagement.
• Include ongoing training and development for the team.
