Job summary

Randstad Australia is partnering with a world-leading FMCG ice‑cream business to appoint a driven Project Engineer who will lead end‑to‑end capital projects at a major NSW manufacturing site.

You will manage the site Capital Plan, deliver critical infrastructure and process upgrades, and collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, R&D and external contractors to ensure safe, on‑time, and on‑budget project execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Mechatronics, Process, Industrial Engineering, or Instrumentation.
• Minimum 5+ years of capital project management and manufacturing operations experience in FMCG/industrial environment.
• Strong financial acumen with experience developing business cases, budgeting and forecasting.
• Excellent leadership, stakeholder engagement, and analytical problem-solving skills.
• Project Management certification and Chartered Engineer status are highly advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end CapEx projects across process, packaging, utilities and infrastructure.
• Manage the site Capital Plan, align investments with strategy, deliver OTIF within budget.
• Oversee cost control, value delivery, and supplier negotiations.
• Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, R&D, and contractors to ensure seamless integration.
• Lead FAT/SAT testing and asset handover, and promote risk management.

Role Overview

Our client is the world's largest pure-play ice cream company, operating in 76 countries, and they are looking for a driven Project Engineer to lead end-to-end capital projects.

You will have the autonomy to manage the site Capital Plan, deliver critical infrastructure and process upgrades, and work cross-functionally to shape the future of a high-performance, continuously evolving manufacturing site.

Key Responsibilities

Capital Project Delivery & Financial Management:

• Lead the full life cycle of multiple CapEx projects across process, packaging, utilities, and infrastructure, from concept and business case development through to commissioning and operational handover.
• Manage the site Capital Plan, aligning investments with strategic business objectives and ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time in full (OTIF), and within budget.
• Manage project expenditure, cost savings, value delivery, and technical negotiations with suppliers.

Engineering Leadership & Collaboration:

• Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, R&D, and external contractors to ensure seamless project integration.
• Oversee Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and the successful handover of new assets.
• Drive robust risk management and contractor management processes while actively promoting asset care plans across the site.

Continuous Improvement & Compliance:

• Leverage data and Lean Manufacturing principles (including TPM and EEM) to improve plant reliability, capacity, and operational effectiveness.
• Integrate sustainability initiatives directly into project designs, actively contributing to energy, waste, water, and carbon reduction goals.
• Ensure strict compliance with GMP, food safety, hygiene, and engineering regulatory standards.

Skills & Qualifications

Salary & Work Rights

• 120K - 130K + Super + Flexible working benefits.
