Job summary

Blackbook Executive is seeking an experienced Project Engineer for a market-leading food manufacturing business in Queensland. You will own a diverse portfolio of capital projects, guiding them from concept through to commissioning, with a focus on safety, automation, productivity and operational performance.

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will develop scopes, timelines and budgets, collaborate with stakeholders, and ensure compliance with food safety and regulatory requirements,

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Chemical Engineering.
• Experience in project engineering within a complex manufacturing environment (food/FMCG preferred).
• Proven delivery of multi-disciplinary CAPEX projects from concept through commissioning.
• Strong project management skills across scope, budget, timeline and resources.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
• Understanding of safety, quality and regulatory requirements in manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Lead a portfolio of planned capital works and engineering projects across the site.

The Company

As the business continues to invest in its manufacturing operations and infrastructure, they are looking to appoint an experienced Project Engineer to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer to take ownership of a diverse portfolio of engineering and capital projects, working closely with key stakeholders across the business to deliver projects that improve safety, automation, productivity, capacity and overall operational performance.

The successful candidate will play a key role in bringing projects from concept through to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget and to the required specification and scope.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, your responsibilities will include:

• Work autonomously and collaboratively with project teams to manage and deliver a portfolio of planned capital works and engineering projects across the site.


• Take ownership of projects from initial concept, feasibility and design through to installation, commissioning and final handover.


• Develop project scopes, time lines, budgets and delivery plans, ensuring projects remain aligned with business objectives.


• Work closely with internal stakeholders, contractors, suppliers and engineering teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to specification.


• Support the development of CAPEX business cases, cost estimates and project justifications where required.


• Ensure all projects comply with relevant engineering, safety, quality, food safety and regulatory requirements.


• Lead commissioning, validation and handover activities, ensuring new equipment and processes are effectively transitioned into operations.

Your Background

In order to be successful in this role you will be:

• Qualified at a degree / trade level in Mechanical/Electrical/Chemical Engineering (required).


• Experienced in Project Engineering within a complex manufacturing environment, ideally within food, FMCG or a similarly high-volume production setting.


• Proven experience managing multi-disciplinary engineering and CAPEX projects from concept through to completion and commissioning.


• Strong understanding of project management methodologies, with the ability to manage project scope, budget, time lines, resources, risks and reporting.


• A strong communicator with the ability to influence, engage and collaborate with stakeholders across all levels of an organisation.


• Strong commercial awareness with the ability to understand project costs, budgets and return on investment.


• Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.


• Ideally experienced with process improvement, automation, equipment upgrades, plant modifications or manufacturing infrastructure projects.
