Job summary

Kraft Heinz in Northgate, QLD, is seeking a Project Engineer to join our manufacturing team. You will lead mechanical projects from concept through to completion, delivering improved equipment performance, cost savings and strong governance.

You will apply your mechanical engineering experience in a live FMCG environment, coordinate with cross-functional teams, manage budgets and schedules, and ensure OH&S and food safety compliance across all activities.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification aligned to Mechanical Engineering (degree/diploma or equivalent).
  • Proven experience delivering mechanical engineering outcomes in a live industrial manufacturing plant (FMCG preferred).
  • Lead mechanical projects end-to-end: scope, design, budgets, scheduling, risk management, close-out/handover.
  • Working knowledge of Australian Standards for mechanical installations, pressure equipment, and workplace safety.
  • Hands-on experience delivering plant and utilities projects (pumps, piping, valves, conveyors).
  • Strong capability in machine safety: hazard identification, risk reduction, guarding and engineered controls.
  • Experience in installation oversight: inspection, testing, commissioning, contractor coordination, quality/compliance to specs.
  • Writing project specifications and scope-of-works documentation; reviewing vendor proposals.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously; align stakeholders and minimize disruption to production.
  • MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint; familiarity with CAD tools; strong analysis, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Eligibility to work in Australia – with full working rights.

  • Lead and deliver key site engineering projects, partnering with relevant departments to meet site priorities.
  • Scope, design and implement mechanical projects to improve equipment performance and reliability.
  • Deliver cost savings across materials, utilities and labour while reducing EH&S and food safety risks.
  • Prepare and manage all financial aspects of allocated projects.
  • Develop engineering governance documentation, deliverables, inclusions and exclusions.
  • Communicate project requirements clearly to stakeholders across the project lifecycle.
  • Support Procurement with negotiations and contract agreements.
  • Ensure OH&S and food safety compliance across all activities.
  • Apply engineering knowledge to drive continuous improvement and challenge status quo.
  • Manage capital projects from conception through to completion in line with Kraft Heinz Management Systems.

We have two exciting permanent opportunity for a Project Engineer to join our Manufacturing team based out of our Northgate (QLD) site!

Key Position Responsibilities Include, But Not Limited To
  • Lead and deliver key site engineering projects, partnering with relevant functional departments to achieve site priorities.
  • Scope, design, and implement mechanical projects that improve the performance and reliability of equipment, services, and infrastructure used in the manufacturing of food and beverage products.
  • Scope, design, and implement mechanical projects that deliver cost savings across materials, utilities, and labour, while also reducing environmental, health, safety, and food safety risk.
  • Prepare and manage all financial aspects of allocated projects.
  • Develop clear engineering corporate governance documentation, including project deliverables, inclusions, and exclusions.
  • Communicate project requirements clearly to a diverse range of stakeholders throughout the full project lifecycle.
  • Support the Procurement Department with negotiations and contract agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with OH&S and food safety policies across all project activities.
  • Apply engineering experience and understanding of processes to critically analyse and challenge the status quo to drive improvement.
  • Manage capital projects from conception through to completion in compliance with Kraft Heinz Management Systems.
About You
