Job summary

1Recruit International is seeking a Project Engineer for a Junior Project Manager path on a major Brisbane development. The role oversees multiple buildings and major trade packages, with a focus on delivery, coordination and governance in a fast-paced environment.

Candidates should have a Civil/Construction background and be prepared to progress into Junior PM and Project Manager positions, with a salary in excess of A$200K plus super.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience as a Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer in construction or infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of structural, civil and major construction.
• Ability to manage significant construction or subcontract packages.

Responsibilities

• Manage allocated buildings, project zones or major trade packages.
• Coordinate structural, civil, façade, architectural and building services packages.
• Manage packages from procurement through construction, commissioning and handover.
• Review design documentation and identify constructability issues, scope gaps and interface risks.
• Manage RFIs, shop drawings, technical submissions and design approvals.
• Coordinate consultants, engineers, subcontractors and site teams.
• Support trade procurement, Scope of Works, tender reviews and subcontractor assessments.
• Work with Contract Administrators on package costs, variations and commercial matters.
• Manage subcontractors against programme, quality, safety and technical requirements.
• Coordinate ITPs, inspections, hold points, testing and QA.
• Assist with construction planning, sequencing, temporary works and logistics.
• Identify constraints before they impact delivery.
• Support project reporting, forecasting and programme management.
• Provide leadership to Site Engineers, Graduates and Cadets.

A major Australian construction group with an exceptional track record delivering large-scale and complex developments is building its prospective project team for a significant multi-building development in inner Brisbane. The project represents a major construction program involving multiple buildings and work fronts progressing concurrently, requiring an experienced delivery team capable of operating within a fast-paced and highly coordinated construction environment. We are seeking experienced Project Engineers who can take genuine ownership of major construction packages and have the technical, commercial and leadership capability to progress into Project Management.

The Role

What We're Looking For

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline


• Experience as a Project Engineer / Senior Project Engineer within construction, infrastructure, mining or resources


• Strong structural, civil and/or major construction knowledge


• Demonstrated ownership of significant construction or subcontract packages


• Strong capability across design coordination, procurement, programming, QA and delivery


• Commercial awareness and ability to work effectively alongside Contract Administration teams


• Strong subcontractor management, communication and problem-solving capability


• Ability to operate effectively within a large, fast-paced project environment with multiple concurrent work fronts


• Candidates who can readily operate across both Project Engineering and commercial/CA responsibilities will be particularly attractive.


• Mining, resources, infrastructure and FIFO Project Engineers are encouraged to apply where their major-project delivery experience is transferable to complex building construction.

This role offers a genuine pathway for Project Engineers ready to take broader project responsibility and progress toward Junior Project Manager and ultimately Project Manager positions.
