Job summary

Join Transport and Main Roads as a Program Engagement Officer and play a key role in connecting communities with transport infrastructure projects that help keep Queensland moving.

Working within the Customer and Stakeholder Management team, you'll develop communication and engagement strategies, create content for a variety of audiences, prepare ministerial and executive correspondence, and support consultation activities across the Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program (QTRIP).

This is an opportunity to build strong stakeholder relationships, work on diverse and meaningful projects, and contribute to the delivery of road and transport initiatives that make a difference to communities across Central Queensland.

Transport and Main Roads is seeking enthusiastic and capable Program Engagement Officers to join our Customer and Stakeholder Management team in Mackay or Rockhampton.

This is an opportunity to use your communication, engagement and relationshipbuilding skills to support the delivery of major transport and road infrastructure programs across Central Queensland. You'll work closely with project teams, community members, stakeholders and decision-makers to ensure people are informed, engaged and connected throughout the life of important infrastructure projects.

As part of a supportive and collaborative team, you'll contribute to the delivery of the Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program (QTRIP), helping communicate the benefits, impacts and progress of projects that shape the future of our region.

What You'll Be Doing

In this varied role, you will:

  • Develop and implement communication and community engagement plans for infrastructure projects.
  • Create clear, accurate and engaging content including newsletters, flyers, roadworks notifications, digital content and stakeholder communications.
  • Research and prepare ministerial briefings, executive correspondence and responses to community enquiries.
  • Support public consultation activities and stakeholder engagement initiatives. Prepare media materials and contribute to social media and communication campaigns.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with community members, project teams, local organisations, elected representatives and other stakeholders. Ensure information and records are managed appropriately in line with departmental requirements.

You Will Bring
  • Strong written communication and content development skills.
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement, communications, customer relations or a related field.
  • The ability to analyse information and prepare clear, concise correspondence and briefing material.
  • Sound judgement, initiative and a commitment to delivering positive community outcomes.
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
