Job summary

Newman Senior High School in Western Australia is seeking a Program Coordinator – Student Services to join our leadership team. You will lead a coordinated, evidence-informed approach to student wellbeing, attendance, behaviour, engagement and achievement.

The Role

Newman SHS is seeking a highly organised and empathetic Program Coordinator – Student Services to join our leadership team.

The successful applicant will lead a coordinated, evidence-informed approach to student wellbeing, attendance, behaviour, engagement and achievement. They will oversee whole-school prevention, early intervention and targeted support strategies that enable students to remain connected to learning and progress towards their chosen pathways.

A key focus will be strengthening Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), restorative education and trauma-informed practice across the school. The successful applicant will build staff capacity to implement agreed policies, processes and practices consistently, contributing to safe, inclusive and supportive learning environments.

Applicants will ideally display:

• experience in complex case management and a sound understanding of Students at Educational Risk (SAER) requirements;
• the ability to analyse student data, identify trends, coordinate interventions and evaluate their impact;
• sound professional judgement and knowledge of relevant Department of Education policies, procedures and legislative requirements;
• high standards of documentation, record keeping, communication and follow-up;
• the capacity to prioritise competing demands and respond calmly to critical incidents and sensitive matters; and
• highly developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to build trusted, culturally responsive relationships with students, families, staff and external agencies.

Working collaboratively with the Principal, administrative team and Student Services staff, the successful applicant will proactively connect the work of key programs including Stars, Clontarf, Follow the Dream and Rise Up - to strengthen partnerships, coordinate support and create meaningful opportunities for every student to engage, achieve and successfully pursue their chosen pathway.
