Job summary

Department of Education, Western Australia’s Shenton College is seeking a Program Coordinator – Pathways to lead and develop senior secondary pathway programs, with a strong focus on VET and Workplace Learning.

The role collaborates with the Pathways team, the Associate Principal – Pathways and teaching staff to create flexible, student-centred options and ensure smooth transitions to further education and employment.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, delivery and review of pathway programs with the Pathways team and Associate Principal – Pathways
• Coordinate and support VET, Workplace Learning and other senior secondary pathway programs
• Develop innovative, flexible and student-centred pathway options for transitions to further education, training and employment
• Assist students and families with subject selection, career education and pathway planning
• Oversee quality, compliance and delivery of on-site and external VET programs
• Identify new opportunities in response to student needs and emerging pathways
• Support staff involved in VET, career development and Workplace Learning
• Foster relationships with training providers and external organisations
• Use student outcome data and feedback to inform future planning and drive improvements

As a large, successful school, Shenton College employs over 280 teachers, some of whom teach within one of our dedicated Middle School Communities (Years 7 and 8), while others teach in our Senior Schools from Year 9 to 12. The Role

Shenton College is seeking a Program Coordinator – Pathways to join the College’s Pathways team and support the delivery and development of a range of senior secondary pathway opportunities for students. Working closely with the Associate Principal – Pathways, other members of the Pathways team, the Executive Team and teaching staff, the Program Coordinator – Pathways will provide leadership in coordinating and strengthening the College’s senior secondary programs. The role will have a particular focus on VET, Workplace Learning and senior secondary pathways, while also contributing to career development, pathway planning and student transitions. The successful applicant will ideally work collaboratively with the Pathways team to develop innovative and flexible opportunities that support students to pursue pathways suited to their interests, strengths and future goals. The role may also involve working with the Associate Principal – Pathways to identify and develop new opportunities for students, support students and families to make informed pathway decisions, and ensure programs are well coordinated across the College.

• Work collaboratively with the Associate Principal – Pathways and other members of the Pathways team to provide leadership in the planning, delivery and review of pathway programs.
• Coordinate and support VET, Workplace Learning and other senior secondary pathway programs.
• Contribute to the development of innovative, flexible and student-centred pathway options that support successful transitions to further education, training and employment.
• Support students and families with subject selection, career education and individual pathway planning, in collaboration with other staff.
• Oversee the quality, compliance and delivery of on-site and external VET programs.
• Work with the Associate Principal – Pathways and other staff to identify and develop new opportunities that respond to student needs, interests and emerging education, training and employment pathways.
• Provide leadership and support to staff involved in VET, career development, Workplace Learning and pathway programs, and contribute to building staff capacity across these areas.
• Maintain effective working relationships with relevant training providers and external organisations where required to support student programs.
• Use student outcome data and feedback to review programs, identify areas for improvement and inform future planning.
• Promote strong student engagement, achievement and successful transitions beyond school.
