Our client, a national health organisation, are currently seeking a Program Advisor for an initial contract until 30/06/2027.

The Program Advisor sits within a large transformation program. This contract role is an opportunity to bring strong planning and scheduling discipline to a complex, multi-stream national program working across a federated structure.Working closely with the project manager of each delivery stream, you will develop and maintain the integrated program schedule and program plan, including the critical path, key dependencies and risks to the delivery path. This role is where stream-level plans come together into one credible view of how and when the program will deliver. When streams have differing planned delivery dates, you will work through those differences with the project managers involved, test the options and set direction for the plan, escalating to the Program Manager and Program Director where a decision is needed. The goal is a single, agreed schedule the program can deliver against with confidence.

Roles and responsibilities include;
  • Develop and maintain an integrated program schedule that brings together the plans of each delivery stream, including deliverables, milestones, dependencies and resourcing assumptions.
  • Work with each delivery stream project manager to build, baseline and regularly update their stream schedule, making sure it is realistic and aligned to the program plan.
  • Identify, maintain and actively monitor the program critical path, highlighting and providing resolution options if slippage in one stream affects other streams or key program milestones.
  • Identify and assess delivery path risks and schedule issues, work with stream project managers on mitigations, and ensure these are reflected in the risk register.
  • Resolve differences between planned delivery dates across streams by facilitating discussion, testing options and directing the plan, escalating to the Program Manager and Program Director where a decision is required.
  • Maintain the program plan, keeping scope, sequencing, key decisions and planning assumptions current as the program evolves.
  • Run a regular schedule review cycle with stream project managers and manage changes to the baseline schedule through an agreed change control process.
  • Provide clear schedule reporting and visuals (milestones, critical path, schedule health) to the Program Manager and Program Director, and inputs to governance and funder reporting.
  • Establish and document the scheduling tools, templates and conventions so the program can continue to maintain the schedule once the contract ends.
Key skills and experience required:
  • At least 5 years' experience in program or project planning and scheduling in a complex, multi-stream environment
  • Demonstrated expertise in building and maintaining integrated schedules, including critical path analysis, dependency management, baselining and change control
  • Experience in resource and capacity planning, identifying workforce constraints and analysing the impact of resource availability on delivery schedules.
  • Advanced skills in a scheduling tool (e.g. Asana) and strong MS Office skills
  • Proven ability to identify and assess schedule and delivery risks and turn them into clear, practical mitigations
  • Stakeholder influence without authority.
  • Strong facilitation and negotiation skills, with the confidence to work through competing delivery dates with project managers and bring them to an agreed position
  • Excellent communication skills, including turning complex schedule information into concise reporting and visuals for senior audiences
  • Experience working across hybrid delivery approaches, including Agile and more traditional streams
  • Highly organised, with strong attention to detail and the ability to stay one step ahead of emerging issues
Highly desirable:
  • Experience working in health care or an understanding of the health sector
  • Experience working within large-scale national programs involving government funding, multiple delivery partners and complex stakeholder environments.
  • Experience scheduling technology or digital delivery programs, or programs spanning multiple organisations
