Job summary

Hudson is seeking an AO6 Senior Project Officer for the Queensland Government to support Safety & Wellbeing initiatives. The role concentrates on WHS governance, risk management and continuous improvement, with hands-on delivery across multiple work streams.

Based in Brisbane with a 3 days in office/2 days working from home pattern, the position offers an initial 6-month contract with potential extension and onsite parking.

Qualifications

• 3–7 years' relevant WHS experience.
• Experience delivering WHS projects, programs or improvement initiatives.
• Knowledge of contemporary WHS legislation, governance, risk and assurance practices.
• Strong written communication skills, including briefs, reports and project documentation.

About You

We're looking for practical, collaborative WHS professionals who are comfortable doing the work, not simply providing high‑level advice.

You may already be operating at a similar level or be an experienced WHS professional ready to take the next step in your career.

Ideally, you will bring:

• Approximately 3–7 years' relevant WHS experience, although more experienced candidates genuinely seeking a hands‑on contract role are also encouraged to apply.
• Experience delivering WHS projects, programs or improvement initiatives.
• Knowledge of contemporary WHS legislation, governance, risk and assurance practices.
• Strong research, analysis and problem‑solving capability.
• Confidence engaging with stakeholders at different levels of an organisation.
• Strong written communication skills, including briefs, reports and project documentation.
• The ability to manage competing priorities and progress multiple pieces of work.
• A collaborative, down‑to‑earth approach and willingness to contribute as part of a close‑knit team.

A Certificate IV or higher in Workplace Health and Safety is highly desirable, as is experience or qualifications in workplace investigations.
