MRAEL, in partnership with Insignia, is seeking a Printing Apprentice to join the production team at Wakerley, QLD for an ASAP start. The role is geared toward individuals currently in year 12 and offers a 4-year hands-on trade with a nationally recognised qualification.

No prior experience required—full training provided in a manufacturing environment with heavy machinery. You will begin with core printing tasks, progress through press setup and troubleshooting, and ultimately operate your own

Job description

MRAEL, in partnership with Insignia, is looking for a motivated Printing Apprentice to join their production team in Wakerley, QLD for an immediate start (ASAP). This position is also open to students currently in year 12.

This is a 4-year commitment to a practical, hands-on trade where you will earn a nationally recognised qualification. Please note: this is a manufacturing and production trade, NOT a graphic design role. You will be working directly with heavy machinery and production equipment.

What you’ll be doing:

You’ll start by learning the essentials of print production. During your first 3 months, you’ll build strong foundations through hands‑on tasks such as:

• Washing ink trays and keeping equipment clean
• Assisting with waste paper removal and general production housekeeping
• Preparing materials, inks, and job components
• Helping qualified printers with press setups
• Supporting quality checks and finishing processes
• Keeping the production area tidy, safe, and well‑organised

Note: These tasks may be repetitive at first, but they are key to learning how a print floor operates.

As your confidence grows, you’ll gradually progress to more technical duties, including:

• Assisting with running press equipment
• Learning how to troubleshoot common production issues
• Building the skills to eventually operate your own printing press under supervision

Requirements:

• pre-employment medical, including a Drug and Alcohol screen.
• A driver’s licence and realible transport are helpful but not essential.
