Job summary

CommBank is seeking a Principal Software Engineer for Customer Channels and Data in Sydney/Melbourne. Lead the technology strategy behind AI-enabled customer and banker experiences and shape CRM, engagement and workflow platforms at enterprise scale.

You will influence platform strategy, drive architecture across cloud, APIs and AI capabilities, and mentor engineers while delivering secure, observable, resilient services that transform customer journeys across digital and assisted channels.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and delivering distributed systems at scale.
• Experience with API-first and event-driven architectures.
• Strong track record leading architecture decisions across cloud-native or customer-facing platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, evolution and delivery of scalable platforms for customer and banker experiences.
• Drive architecture decisions across multiple squads and domains.
• Establish reusable patterns, frameworks and standards to improve delivery speed and quality.
• Shape platform strategy across cloud, APIs, engagement services and AI-enabled capabilities.
• Champion DevSecOps, observability, CI/CD and automated testing.
• Partner with product, architecture, risk and business stakeholders to deliver outcomes.
• Ensure security, privacy and responsible AI principles are embedded.
