Job summary

Australian Energy Market Operator in Melbourne seeks an Engineer for its System Planning team. You will apply power system fundamentals to assess capability, develop solutions, and support stakeholders.

The role covers detailed technical analysis, high‑level problem solving, and cross‑functional collaboration. You will work on ISP-related planning and climate-agnostic reliability, with a focus on high renewable integration and long‑term system evolution.

Qualifications

Tertiary qualification in mathematics, operations research, engineering, physics, etc.
Experience with power system analysis tools (load flow and fault-level studies).
Proficiency in Python for data analysis, modelling, and automation.
Strong analytical and technical skills; proficient in MS Office.

Responsibilities

Provide expert engineering analysis to support power system planning and stakeholder needs.
Deliver technical support on electricity planning and system performance for safe, secure operation.
Contribute to planning publications such as ISP, ESOO and system security reports.
Prepare clear, high-quality reports and insights for management and project teams.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver planning outcomes.
