Job summary

Our client is a leading specialist engineering organisation for high-voltage design, transmission, storage and associated technology. They seek experienced Grid Connection Engineers to join their Melbourne team, with similar roles in other major Australian cities.

You will lead delivery of complex studies, develop grid strategies, and provide technical leadership across a portfolio of projects in Australia.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related discipline.
Minimum of 5 years experience in power system analysis in grid connection, generation, transmission and distribution systems in Australia.
Strong understanding of grid connections within the National Electricity Market (NEM).

Responsibilities

Utilise PSCAD/PowerFactory/PSS/E/ETAP to develop grid models and assess performance.
Perform load flow, short circuit, dynamic and transient stability studies.
Conduct simulations covering stability, fault ride-through, voltage/frequency control, and system strength/inertia.
Collaborate with internal electrical engineers to ensure seamless integration.
Contribute to project strategy, risk positioning, and commercial decisions relating to grid compliance.
Monitor post-commissioning performance; analyze deviations and implement optimisations.
