InterContinental Sydney is seeking a Porter / Bell Attendant to deliver warm, polished and personal welcomes in a busy five‑star lobby. You’ll be on the move, assisting with luggage, valet parking and guest requests, while sharing local knowledge to showcase Sydney’s highlights.

Based at Circular Quay, you’ll join a luxury Front Office team and have access to training and discounts across IHG hotels and resorts, with opportunities for career progression within the InterContinental Sydney and IHG

Responsibilities

Your day to day

You’ll be one of the first people our guests meet when they arrive and one of the last to farewell them when they leave.

Based at the heart of our hotel entrance and lobby, you’ll be constantly on the move — welcoming guests, assisting with luggage, valet parking vehicles, arranging transport, sharing your knowledge of Sydney and helping with the many different requests that come with a busy five‑star hotel.

You’ll:

• Create a warm and genuine welcome for every guest
• Assist with luggage on arrival, throughout the stay and on departure
• Safely valet park and retrieve guest vehicles

• Arrange taxis, transfers and other transportation
• Share local knowledge and recommendations to help guests experience the best of Sydney
• Respond to guest requests and take ownership of finding a solution
• Work closely with Concierge, Front Office and teams across the hotel to create a seamless guest experience

This is not a role where you’ll be standing behind a desk. It’s active, hands‑on and highly guest-facing, and you’ll meet people from around the world every day.

We’re looking for someone who wants to become part of the team, build their guest service experience and continue developing with us.

What we need from you

You don’t necessarily need previous five‑star hotel experience. What matters most is your attitude, confidence with people and willingness to learn. We’re looking for someone who:

• Genuinely enjoys meeting and helping people
• Is warm, confident and comfortable starting conversations with guests
• Takes pride in providing thoughtful and personalised service
• Enjoys working as part of a team in a busy environment
• Has excellent presentation and attention to detail
• Is comfortable working in an active role and lifting, pushing and pulling items up to 28kg
• Can work a flexible roster including weekends and public holidays
• Has full Australian working rights with no restrictions

Previous hotel, hospitality, customer service or premium service experience is welcomed, but not essential — we can teach you the hotel side of the role.

Driver licence requirement

Valet parking is an important part of this position, so you must hold either:

• A full, unrestricted NSW Driver Licence; or
• A valid international Driver Licence, with the ability to obtain a NSW Driver Licence as a condition of ongoing employment.
