Job summary

Melton City Council is seeking an experienced professional to join the Early Years Partnerships team, delivering playgroup programs that support families with children aged 0–5 years. The role reports to the Playgroups Supervisor and focuses on creating developmentally appropriate activities in a welcoming setting.

You will provide casual relief, model positive parenting, and help families build skills, confidence and social connections while working with the Supported Playgroups team to manage

• Tertiary qualification in early childhood or related field.
• Experience working with families with young children, including those experiencing disadvantage.
• Understanding of child development and play-based learning in the context of the family environment and the playgroup setting.
• Highly developed interpersonal skills and ability to resolve issues as they arise.
• Experience providing professional, efficient administration functions.
• Roster availability three- five days per week over school terms.

The Opportunity

The Early Years Partnerships team is looking for an experienced professional to work with families across our playgroup programs. These programs support parents and carers to build skills and confidence, helping improve children’s learning, development and wellbeing. This position reports to the Playgroups Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

About you

To be successful in this role you will have the following:

• Tertiary qualification in early childhood, community development services, education, health welfare, social work or related field or knowledge and skills gained through on-the-job training.
• Relevant experience in working with families with young children, including those who are experiencing disadvantage.
• Understanding of child development and play based learning in the context of the family environment and the playgroup setting.
• Highly developed interpersonal skills and ability to resolve issues and situations as they arise.
• Experience providing professional, effective and efficient administration functions.
• Roster availability three- five days per week over school terms.
• Must hold or be able to obtain an Employee Working with Children Check.
