Latitude IT in Sydney is seeking a Platform Engineer with a strong AWS focus to help scale and automate a modern cloud environment. You will work with the Head of Platform Engineering and software teams to drive reliability, performance and cost efficiency across the AWS stack.

The role emphasizes hands-on engineering, cloud automation and collaboration with international platform teams to shape how cloud infrastructure is built and operated.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years in Cloud/Platform Engineering, DevOps or SRE.
• Hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure.
• Familiarity with Lambda, S3 and DynamoDB.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation.
• Understanding of cloud networking, security and reliability.
• Exposure to monitoring, logging and production support.

The Opportunity

Working closely with the Head of Platform Engineering and software engineering teams, you'll contribute across AWS infrastructure, DevOps automation, CI/CD and platform reliability.

You'll have the opportunity to improve existing systems, introduce better engineering practices and take ownership of initiatives that make a tangible difference to the wider engineering function.

What You'll Be Doing

• AWS Infrastructure: Support and improve a broad AWS environment across compute, storage, networking, serverless and data services.
• Platform Modernisation: Identify opportunities to improve cloud architecture, scalability, security, performance and cost efficiency.
• DevOps & Automation: Enhance CI/CD pipelines, streamline deployments and reduce manual processes through automation and Infrastructure as Code.
• Reliability & Monitoring: Improve monitoring, logging, alerting and observability to support platform stability and performance.
• Operational Excellence: Assist with incident response, troubleshooting and the development of more mature reliability practices.
• Engineering Collaboration: Work closely with software engineers and international platform teams to resolve technical challenges and improve developer workflows.

What We're Looking For

We're interested in engineers with strong AWS fundamentals, a practical approach to problem-solving and a genuine interest in improving cloud platforms.

You’ll ideally bring

• 3-6 years' experience in Cloud Engineering, Platform Engineering, DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering.
• Hands‑on experience supporting and managing AWS infrastructure.
• Familiarity with AWS services such as Lambda, S3 and DynamoDB.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes and automation.
• An understanding of cloud networking, security, scalability and infrastructure reliability.
• Exposure to monitoring, logging, troubleshooting and production support.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with software engineering teams.

Skills That Would Be Advantageous

Experience with some of the following would be beneficial:

• Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation or AWS CDK.
• Docker, Kubernetes, or Amazon ECS.
• Monitoring and observability tools such as CloudWatch, Grafana, Prometheus or Datadog.
• SRE practices, incident management and service reliability metrics.
• AWS data or AI services, including Amazon Bedrock.

You don't need to tick every box. Strong AWS experience, a willingness to learn and the drive to improve existing systems are what matter most.
