Job summary

JS Careers Pty in Sydney is partnering with a global financial services organisation to hire a Platform Engineer focusing on Kubernetes, GCP and AWS. You’ll help automate environments end-to-end and build reliable delivery pipelines for containerised services.

You’ll design and evolve a platform used by multiple product teams, with an emphasis on AI-assisted engineering, security and observability, and you’ll collaborate across engineering to solve complex, multi-system problems.

Qualifications

• Production experience with Kubernetes (GKE preferred).
• Hands-on cloud infra management on GCP or AWS.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD or Bitbucket.
• Practical monitoring, observability and incident response.
• Scripting in Python, Bash or Go.
• Exposure to API gateways, event-driven patterns and messaging queues.
• Comfort in AI-assisted engineering contexts with emphasis on quality and security.
• Clear communication and proactive problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain automation to stand up GCP and Kubernetes environments end-to-end.
• Build and harden secure, automated CI/CD pipelines for containerised services.
• Build monitoring, alerting and logging into environments from the ground up.
• Lead incident response and drive continuous improvement in operational maturity.
• Reduce manual toil through scripting and automation (Python, Bash, Go).
• Develop tooling to streamline system and data migrations onto modern containerised platforms.
• Integrate core platform components including API gateways, event-driven architectures and messaging queues.
• Work closely with engineering teams to break down ambiguous, multi-system problems and solve them systematically.

Platform Engineer | Kubernetes | GCP/AWS | Financial Services

JS Careers is partnering with a global financial services organisation in Sydney on a Platform Engineer opportunity.

The role sits within a cloud engineering team that owns the foundations every other development team builds on. It would suit someone who enjoys automating environments end-to-end, building reliable delivery pipelines and being the engineer other teams rely on.

You'll be building and evolving a platform that supports a wider engineering function across multiple product teams. The environment is diverse in terms of the tech stack, and there is a strong push towards AI-assisted engineering at every stage of the SDLC.

What you'll be doing:

• Design, build and maintain automation to stand up GCP and Kubernetes (GKE) environments end-to-end
• Build and harden secure, automated CI/CD pipelines for containerised services
• Build monitoring, alerting and logging into environments from the ground up

What we're looking for:

• Production experience orchestrating containerised workloads with Kubernetes (GKE preferred, EKS highly regarded)
• Strong hands-on experience managing and scaling cloud infrastructure on GCP or AWS
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD or Bitbucket
• Practical experience with monitoring, observability and incident response
• Scripting capability in Python, Bash or Go
• Exposure to API gateways, event-driven patterns and messaging queues
• Comfort working in an AI-assisted engineering environment, with a strong focus on quality and security
• Clear communication skills and a proactive, accountable approach to problem-solving
