Qualifications

• Safety-focused and able to follow site procedures.
• Experience operating different sized machines and attachments with appropriate tickets.
• Pre-start checks and routine maintenance to ensure equipment safety.

Responsibilities

• Operate excavators (14T and 5T), Bobcat, pad foot and drum rollers.
• Use attachments including auger, rock breaker, hydraulic grabs and spreader bar.
• Carry out daily checks on plant/vehicle before starting operation.
• Liaise with site manager to plan work on site.

Job description

As a plant operator you will be performing trenching, grading, site preparation, and material handling activities.

Key responsibilities

Operating excavators (14T and 5T), bobcat, pad foot and drum rollers

Using attachments including auger, rock breaker, hydraulic grabs and spreader bar

Carrying out daily checks on the plant/vehicle each day before commencing operation

Liaising with site manager on how to plan out work on job site

About you

Safety focused, capable of following site procedures, understanding of underground/overhead hazards

Competent and experienced, operating different sized machines and attachments and have appropriate excavator and bobcat tickets

Plans before digging, checks levels, plans the work, identifies services and considers access, spoil placement and machine positioning

Mechanically aware – treats equipment properly, carries out pre-start checks and recognises unusual noises, leaks or mechanical problems early

Good communicator, communicates clearly with spotters, labourers, supervisors, truck drivers and other operators

Reliable and punctual – turns up ready to work and can be trusted to operate independently
