Job summary

Chubb Insurance Australia Limited in Melbourne seeks an underwriter to drive profitability by underwriting new business, endorsements and renewals in line with Personal Lines criteria. You will build relationships with new producers and service existing ones aligned with annual goals.

Key tasks include evaluating risks, collaborating with departments, and monitoring portfolio performance to sustain competitive advantage.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated underwriting skills.
• Negotiation and marketing skills.
• Policy documentation, including terms and conditions.
• Underwriting policy practice.
• Understanding the appraisal services.

Responsibilities

• Monitor profitability of portfolio and provide feedback on steps to improve if required.
• Evaluate, accept or decline new business, endorsements or renewal business based on underwriting guidelines.
• Collate underwriting information and refer risks outside authorities or guidelines to Unit Manager with recommendations.
• Monitor competitors’ products and suggest wording changes to sustain competitive advantage.
• Establish/build relationships with potential producers with prospective business meeting underwriting guidelines.
• Monitor workloads and advise team leaders if assistance is required due to exceptional circumstances.
• Assist appraisal section queries.
• Assist claims department queries.
• Collaborate with staff from other departments to identify cross-marketing opportunities.
