Job summary

Chubb in Melbourne seeks an experienced Financial Lines Underwriter to assess, price and manage risks in line with underwriting guidelines and profitability objectives. You will contribute to portfolio development, support broker and client relationships, and provide technical expertise across the team.

You will be responsible for delivering profitable underwriting results, negotiating new business and renewals, and mentoring junior team members while monitoring portfolio performance and loss

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified or equivalent experience.
• Strong knowledge of Financial Lines insurance.
• Proven technical underwriting ability with negotiation, communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to build effective relationships with brokers, customers and internal stakeholders.
• Experience developing tailored underwriting solutions for complex risks.
• Understanding of pricing techniques and modelling.

Responsibilities

• Assess, price, and negotiate new business and renewals within delegated authority.
• Provide technical underwriting guidance on complex risks, referrals, and portfolio management.
• Monitor claims activity, premium performance, and loss trends.
• Support portfolio development and cross-sell opportunities across the business.
• Build and maintain relationships with brokers, insureds and market partners.
• Refer risks outside authority to product managers as required.
