Job summary

Macquarie University Health is seeking an experienced Scrub/Scout Registered Nurse to join our Perioperative Services for General Surgery, Gynaecology and Plastics lists at North Ryde. You will prepare theatres, maintain aseptic technique, manage instruments and consumables, and support patient safety through checks and clear communication.

You will work within a high-performing team, with extensive training provided and opportunities to expand your perioperative skills in a university-owned,

Qualifications

• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
• Recent perioperative theatre experience as Scrub/Scout.
• WWCC for NSW required.
• Strong organisational, multitasking and communication skills.
• Experience with instrumentation and theatre workflows.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe perioperative nursing care as Scrub/Scout for General and Plastics lists.
• Maintain sterile technique and infection prevention practices.
• Prepare, check and manage instrumentation, implants, sutures, consumables.
• Demonstrate clinical judgement and escalate intraoperative risks.
• Communicate with surgeons, anaesthetists and MDT for safe patient flow.
• Document accurately and participate in safety checks and handovers.
• Contribute to a positive team culture and continuous improvement.
