Job summary

Macquarie University Health is recruiting Scrub/Scout Registered Nurses with perioperative theatre experience to join our Perioperative Services team at Macquarie University Hospital, North Ryde. You will prepare the operating theatre, maintain aseptic technique and support patient safety across the intraoperative journey.

Extensive training and orientation are provided; opportunities to develop perioperative skills, with a base salary of AU$82,666–$110,115 plus 12% superannuation and salary

Qualifications

• Recent perioperative theatre experience as Scrub/Scout (or strong theatre background)
• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
• WWCC NSW or willing to obtain one
• Flexible to work a variety of shifts
• Proficient in electronic medical records and MS Office

Responsibilities

• Provide safe perioperative nursing care as Scrub/Scout across General and Plastics lists
• Maintain sterile technique and infection prevention practices
• Prepare, check and manage instrumentation, implants, sutures and consumables
• Demonstrate clinical judgement and escalate intraoperative risks
• Communicate with surgeons, anaesthetists and multidisciplinary team
• Document accurately and participate in safety checks (time-out, counts, specimen handling)
• Contribute to a positive team culture and continuous improvement
