Job summary

Macquarie University Health is seeking Scrub/Scout Registered Nurses with perioperative theatre experience to join our Perioperative Services team, supporting General Surgery and Plastics lists. You will be part of the intraoperative team, preparing the theatre, maintaining aseptic technique and contributing to patient safety through accurate checks and effective communication.

Qualifications

• Perioperative nursing experience in theatre settings.
• Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
• Ability to maintain aseptic technique and infection control.
• Experience with instrumentation and preference card systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe perioperative nursing care across General and Plastics theatre lists.
• Maintain sterile technique and infection prevention practices.
• Prepare, check and manage instrumentation, implants, sutures and consumables.
• Demonstrate clinical judgement and escalate intraoperative risks as needed.
• Communicate with surgeons, anaesthetists and the multidisciplinary team to support safe patient flow and outcomes.
• Complete accurate documentation and participate in safety checks.
