Job summary

A. F. Gason P/L in Ararat, Victoria, is seeking a People & Culture Officer to partner with all areas of the business and help build a capability‑driven culture. You’ll work closely with management and staff to implement practical HR solutions that support growth.

You’ll own the employee lifecycle, manage relations and policy development, and coordinate training to lift capability while maintaining strong compliance and a fair, hands‑on approach to workplace matters.

Qualifications

• Qualification in Human Resources, People & Culture, Business Administration or similar (or working towards one).
• Experience in a HR or People & Culture role – manufacturing, industrial or operational experience is a bonus.
• Genuine passion for people and workplace culture.
• Confidence to talk with anyone from production floor to the executive team.
• Practical, approachable and solutions‑focused approach to workplace matters.
• Strong organisation skills and ability to juggle competing priorities without dropping the detail.
• Discretion and integrity with confidential information.
• A solid grasp of employment legislation and modern awards (or appetite to learn).
• The confidence to take ownership and turn ideas into action.

Responsibilities

• Be the go‑to person for managers and employees – giving practical advice that works in the real world.
• Owning the employee lifecycle from the first interview to the farewell morning tea.
• Handling employee relations, performance matters and investigations with fairness and good judgement.
• Shaping the contracts, position descriptions, policies and processes that keep a growing business on solid ground.
• Driving the rhythm of the people year – remuneration reviews, engagement surveys, performance reviews and workforce planning.
• Keeping our records accurate and our compliance with legislation and awards watertight.
• Lifting capability by coordinating training and development that people actually want to attend.
• Building a culture of communication and accountability that people are proud to be part of.
• Working side by side with our Safety and Operations teams to make sure our people practices support the business.
