Peoplecorp is recruiting on behalf of a large Australian university for two Payroll Team Lead roles. You will oversee one fortnightly pay run and coach a team of payroll specialists, delivering accurate, timely outcomes.

Our client is a large and well-regarded Australian university with a diverse group of controlled entities. It is a complex, fast-paced environment with a large employee base and plenty happening at once. The culture is collaborative and supportive. They are currently recruiting two new Payroll Team Lead roles to run the university's high-volume payroll operation.
Reporting to the Manager, Payroll Services, you will lead one of two fortnightly pay runs and the team of payroll specialists and officers behind it. This is a true leadership role. You will coach and develop your people, set clear expectations and hold the team accountable for accurate, timely outcomes. You will be the escalation point for complex payroll issues and a trusted voice with senior stakeholders. You will own payroll controls and compliance, and coordinate audit requests. Continuous improvement sits at the heart of the role. You will challenge existing processes, get more from the systems and guide the team through new ways of working under a new structure.
To be successful in this role, you will bring proven leadership experience in a high-volume payroll environment with a large and complex employee base. This is not a first-time leadership opportunity. You will have strong knowledge of payroll legislation, awards and enterprise agreements, along with experience in payroll controls, governance, risk mitigation and audit. You can translate payroll detail for senior stakeholders and have a track record of continuous improvement.
