Job summary

Sharp & Carter is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer in Western Australia to support the accurate and timely fortnightly payroll, maintain compliance with Australian legislation and ensure data integrity across HR and payroll systems.

You will work with internal stakeholders, manage payroll transactions, respond to enquiries, and prepare reports for audits and month-end processes, contributing to a not-for-profit organisation with a purpose-led mission.

Qualifications

• Experience processing payroll end-to-end.
• Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation.
• Experience interpreting Modern Awards.
• Experience with Micropay and Employee Connect.
• Intermediate Excel and administrative skills.
• Attention to detail and data integrity.
• Ability to handle confidential information.
• Excellent communication with employees and managers.
• Australian citizenship or permanent residency.

Responsibilities

• Process fortnightly payroll to ensure accurate and timely payment within deadlines.
• Manage payroll transactions including new starters, terminations, changes, leave adjustments, allowances and salary packaging.
• Review payroll data and resolve discrepancies before finalising pay runs.
• Interpret Modern Awards and ensure payroll practices comply with legislation, awards and policies.
• Maintain accurate employee records and data integrity between HR and payroll systems.
• Respond to payroll enquiries from employees and managers professionally.
• Prepare payroll reports, reconciliations and supporting docs for month-end, year-end and audits.
• Liaise with internal teams and external providers on superannuation, workers' comp, child support and other payroll matters.
• Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, accuracy and efficiency.
