Job summary

Sharp and Carter in Chatswood, NSW, is seeking a Senior Payroll Officer to lead high-volume payroll processing and provide guidance to junior team members. You will own end-to-end payroll tasks, manage masterfile maintenance, and support annual reconciliations.

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will handle PAYG, superannuation, termination payments, and payroll compliance, while identifying discrepancies and improving procedures.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to process high volume payrolls with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge in Chris21/Ichris is essential.
• Solid experience working with different awards and the ability to interpret and apply them accurately.
• Confident handling of termination payments, PAYG and superannuation.
• Approachable and friendly attitude with the confidence to mentor and support other team members.
• High attention to detail, completing work with a high level of accuracy.

Responsibilities

• End-to-End Payroll: Own the processing of high volume payrolls, including new starters, bank changes, superannuation, salary adjustments, allowances and deductions, and terminations.
• Payroll Compliance: Apply and help refine documented payroll checking procedures to ensure compliance and accuracy across all payroll tasks.
• Termination Payments: Calculate and process termination payments, including more complex cases.
• PAYG, Super, and Third-Party Payments: Administer and process PAYG, superannuation, and other third-party payments.
• Masterfile Maintenance: Maintain and update the payroll masterfile, and keep records accurate and audit-ready.
• Audit and Discrepancy Follow-Up: Review audit reports for each payroll cycle and lead the resolution of any discrepancies.
• Report Preparation: Prepare regular payroll reports and provide insights to the Payroll Manager as required.
• Annual Reconciliation: Lead the reconciliation of annual payroll data and reports.
• Team Support: Act as a point of escalation for payroll queries, and provide guidance and on-the-job training to Payroll Officers.
