Job summary

PERSOL is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join a CBD-based client in Perth. This hands-on role ensures accurate and timely payroll processing, compliance with Modern Awards, PAYG and STP, and close collaboration with HR and Finance.

You will manage employee leave entitlements, prepare payslips and respond to payroll queries from staff. The assignment is temporary with potential extension or permanency for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Experience in processing payroll using approved timesheets and leave.
• Knowledge of PAYG, STP and superannuation.
• Ability to interpret Modern Awards.
• Confidential handling of employee data.

Responsibilities

• Processing accurate and timely payroll based on approved timesheets, rosters and leave
• Managing employee leave entitlements and complex leave calculations
• Preparing and distributing payslips
• Ensuring accurate PAYG and STP reporting
• Processing PAYG, payroll tax and superannuation obligations
• Maintaining accurate and confidential employee records
• Liaising with the ATO, Revenue WA and other relevant external bodies
• Responding to employee payroll enquiries and providing advice around awards and policies
• Interpreting and applying Modern Awards and relevant payroll legislation
• Identifying opportunities to improve payroll processes, systems and procedures
• Working closely with HR and Finance to ensure a smooth payroll function
