Challenger Services Group is seeking a meticulous Payroll Officer to join our Finance team on a part-time basis (4 days per week) in Sydney. You will handle payroll processing, data verification, and maintenance of employee records for a diverse workforce across multiple service industries.

The role emphasizes accuracy, compliance with awards and legislation, and collaboration with Operations and People & Culture teams to support payroll changes and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Process payroll accurately and on time.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Payroll Officer, you'll be responsible for:

• Processing payroll accurately and on time.
• Verifying employee timesheet data for completeness and accuracy.
• Maintaining employee records and ensuring payroll information remains current.
• Responding to payroll enquiries relating to leave balances, adjustments, terminations, and employee pay matters.
• Working closely with Operations and People & Culture teams to process employee changes and payroll updates.
• Assisting with payroll reporting, superannuation, payroll tax, and leave reconciliations.
• Maintaining confidentiality and accuracy when handling employee information.
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives within payroll processes.

About You

You'll be someone who:

• Has previous payroll experience, ideally in a high-volume environment.
• Possesses strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Has a sound understanding of payroll processes, legislation, and awards.
• Is analytical, detail-oriented, and enjoys working with data.
• Has excellent verbal and written communication skills.
