Job summary

GenesisCare in Maitland is seeking a compassionate and professional Patient Services Officer (Medical Receptionist) to join our Oncology centre. You will be the first point of contact for patients, coordinating appointments, referrals, and administrative services, while upholding patient confidentiality and delivering outstanding service.

This permanent full-time position requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong organisational abilities, and the confidence to navigate

Qualifications

• Experience in administration, medical reception, or a customer service role.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
• Caring and empathetic approach when interacting with patients and families.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Confidence using computer systems and learning new technology.
• Previous healthcare experience is highly regarded but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients, families, and visitors with professionalism and warmth.
• Coordinate appointments, manage clinician diaries, and respond to enquiries.
• Receive and process referrals accurately and efficiently.
• Prepare and maintain patient records and administrative documentation.
• Support billing, fee estimates, Medicare processing, and private health fund transactions.
• Liaise with clinicians and the wider care team to support daily operations.
• Ensure a high standard of customer service while maintaining patient confidentiality.
