Job summary

Danton Insulation & Sheetmetal in Sydney CBD NSW is seeking an experienced Passive Fire Technician to join our expanding team. This is not an entry-level position and requires extensive hands-on expertise in passive fire protection and the ability to work independently on-site.

You will install passive fire systems, read plans, document site records, and ensure compliance with AS/NZS standards, NCC and manufacturer specs.

Qualifications

• Extensive passive fire experience is essential.
• Strong practical knowledge of passive fire systems (e.g., TBA FIREFLY, TRAFALGAR, PROMAT, BOSS).
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans.
• Read and interpret plans to identify compliant solutions.
• Work with minimal supervision while maintaining high quality.

Responsibilities

• Passive fire penetration sealing and fire stopping.
• Fire collars, wraps, pillows and other passive fire systems.
• Fire-rated walls, floors and service penetrations.
• Reading plans and identifying compliant solutions.
• Completing quality-control documentation and site records.
• Use of CTRL Doc system.
• Working in accordance with Australian Standards, NCC requirements and manufacturer specifications.

THIS IS NOT AN ENTRY-LEVEL POSITION

We are looking for technicians with extensive industry knowledge and proven hands-on experiencein passive fire protection.

You must be confident working independently, understand passive fire systems thoroughly, and take pride in delivering high-quality workmanship.

About the Role

Your work will include:

• Passive fire penetration sealing and fire stopping

• Fire collars, wraps, pillows and other passive fire systems

• Fire-rated walls, floors and service penetrations

• Reading plans and identifying compliant solutions

• Completing quality-control documentation and site records

What We're Looking For

Extensive passive fire experience is essential.

We are looking for workers who:

• Have strong practical knowledge of passive fire systems including but not limited to TBA FIREFLY, TRAFALGAR, PROMAT AND BOSS.

• Can identify and rectify non-compliant installations

• Understand fire ratings, penetrations and compliant installation methods

• Can read and interpret construction plans

• Work efficiently with minimal supervision

• Have a strong eye for detail and quality

• Take safety and compliance seriously

• Are reliable, punctual and professional

• Hold a current driver's licence and White Card

• Have a strong work ethic and take pride in their work

If you don't have substantial passive fire experience, this position isn't for you.
