Job summary

Form1 Fire Protection, an Australian-owned leader in essential safety services, invites a skilled Passive Fire Technician to join our Service Division in NSW. You will inspect, maintain, install and repair passive fire protection systems, fire-rated and smoke doors, dampers and portable equipment across commercial sites.

Ideal candidates will have carpentry background or related experience, strong knowledge of Australian Standards, and the ability to document service reports and quotations.

Qualifications

  • Australian permanent resident or citizen.
  • Experience as Passive Fire Technician or Fire Door Technician.
  • Carpentry background and familiarity with fire protection principles.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian Standards and compliance.
  • Proficiency with basic office software and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Install, inspect, maintain and repair passive fire protection systems.
  • Inspect fire-rated and smoke doors, frames, hinges and hardware.
  • Identify defects and perform rectifications as required.
  • Prepare service reports and accurate documentation.
  • Assist with quotations and client proposals.

About The Role

We have a great opportunity for a Passive/ Fire Door Technician to join our Service Division.

Working across a variety of commercial sites, you will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, installation and repair of passive fire protection systems, fire-rated and smoke doors, dampers and portable fire equipment.

This role is ideally suited for someone with a carpentry background or similar experience, looking to upskill into the fire industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Installing, inspecting, maintaining and repairing passive fire protection systems, including fire stopping, access panels and treatment of penetrations.
  • Inspecting, maintaining and repairing fire-rated and smoke doors, including door leaves, frames, seals, hinges, closers, latches and associated hardware.
  • Identifying defects, damage and compliance issues with fire and smoke doors and carrying out or assisting with required rectification works.
  • Installing and replacing fire door components and associated hardware where required.
  • Conducting inspections of fire doors to assess their condition, functionality, integrity and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Inspecting, maintaining and repairing fire and smoke dampers.
  • Inspecting, servicing and maintaining portable fire equipment and identifying defects or replacement requirements.
  • Conducting thorough inspections of passive fire protection systems to assess their integrity, functionality and compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Completing service reports, documentation and photographs accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Communicating with our Service Supervisors and Coordinators daily to ensure timely completion of works and that client needs are met.
  • Assisting the team with the preparation of quotations and proposals for our clients, including gathering necessary information and preparing documentation.
About You
  • Must be an Australian Permanent Resident or Australian Citizen.
  • Must hold a current NSW Drivers Licence.
  • Previous experience working as a Passive Fire Technician, Fire Door Technician or in a similar role in the construction or fire safety industry.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas will be highly regarded: passive fire protection, fire stopping, fire and smoke doors, dampers and/or portable fire equipment.
  • A thorough understanding of passive fire protection principles, materials and installation techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant Australian Standards and compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with fire stopping products and tested solutions from Trafalgar Fire, Promat and TBA Firefly.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to identify defects, compliance issues and required rectification works.
  • A proactive and conscientious attitude, with a strong focus on quality, customer service and being part of a team.
  • Carpentry trade qualifications or similar experience will be highly regarded.
  • Certificate II Fire Protection Inspect and Test will be highly regarded.
  • Proficiency in basic office software (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Prior SimPRO experience highly regarded.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and development.
  • Must be willing to undergo a Working With Children Check, Australian Federal Police Check and pre-employment medical.
