Job summary

Black Truck & Ag is seeking a skilled Parts Interpreter to join our team in Dalby, QLD. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in our automotive aftermarket operations. As a Parts Interpreter, you will be the vital link between our customers, technicians, and suppliers, ensuring that the right parts are identified and supplied efficiently. Your expertise in parts identification, catalogues, and vehicle specifications will directly impact customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.

What you'll be doing

• Identifying and interpreting parts requirements from customers and technicians using vehicle identification numbers (VINs) and part descriptions
• Consulting technical manuals, parts catalogues, and computer systems to locate accurate part information and availability
• Liaising with suppliers to source parts and manage inventory levels effectively
• Providing technical advice to customers and workshop staff regarding part compatibility and specifications
• Processing parts orders and coordinating delivery schedules
• Maintaining accurate records of parts transactions and customer inquiries
• Contributing to a collaborative workshop environment and supporting other team members
• Resolving parts-related issues and escalating complex queries to management as needed

What we're looking for

• Proven experience as a Parts Interpreter, Parts Advisor, or similar role in the automotive, agricultural, or related trades industry
• Strong knowledge of vehicle systems, components, and parts compatibility across different makes and models
• Proficiency in using parts management software and online cataloguing systems
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy when interpreting technical specifications
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical information clearly
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple inquiries simultaneously
• A valid driver's license and willingness to work full-time hours
• Preferred: Experience in truck, agricultural, or heavy vehicle parts interpretation; knowledge of diesel engine components; or previous experience with specific parts systems relevant to the automotive trades
