Job summary

Sureway is expanding its team in Cooma and is seeking a part-time Employment Consultant who can listen, resolve issues, and connect job seekers with local opportunities.

No prior employment services experience required; if you have worked in retail, hospitality, customer service, call centres, administration or community work, we want to hear from you. You will manage a caseload, build relationships with employers, and help participants achieve meaningful work.

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport quickly.
• Tech savviness and confident use of computers and online systems.
• Proven problem-solving ability and a positive, can-do attitude.
• Excellent organisation and attention to detail for accurate records.
• Genuine desire to see others succeed.
• Experience in customer-facing roles is an advantage; employment services experience is not required.

Responsibilities

• Working one-on-one with participants to understand their goals and build a plan to achieve them.
• Connecting participants with local employers and matching people to the right opportunities.
• Actively building relationships with local employers to create job opportunities.
• Promoting participants’ strengths and matching them to suitable roles.
• Identifying barriers and coordinating support services or training where needed.
• Managing your own caseload, priorities, and follow-ups to keep things moving.
• Maintaining accurate records and meeting program compliance requirements.
