Job summary

Westfund Eye Care Centre in Mackay is seeking a full‑time Optical Dispenser/Assistant to deliver exceptional eye care and member service. This 35‑hour week includes five weeks of annual leave and staff benefits, with a friendly team and patient‑focused culture.

You will assist members with eye care needs, interpret prescriptions, dispense eyewear, help selection of frames and lenses, coordinate appointments, and ensure a smooth, welcoming experience.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Optical Dispensing or experience as an Optical Dispenser.
• Experience in optical, retail or pharmacy environments.
• Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Empathy, initiative and professionalism.
• Competency in Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional assistance to members with eye care needs in a personalised way.

Responsibilities include:

• Member Eye Care Services:Provide professional assistance to members with their eye care needs, ensuring a positive and personalised experience
• Optical Dispensing:Interpret prescriptions and dispense eyewear solutions that align with members' lifestyle and vision requirements.
• Product Sales & Advice: Assist members in selecting frames, lenses, contact lenses, sunglasses and accessories, providing expert product recommendations.
• Appointment Coordination: Schedule appointments and maintain accurate booking records to support efficient clinic operations.
• Customer Service Excellence:Deliver outstanding service through every interaction, building strong relationships with members and colleagues.

What you'll bring

We're looking for someone with a positive, member-focused attitude and the skills or experience to excel in a customer-facing healthcare environment:

• Certificate IV in Optical Dispensing or experience as an Optical Dispenser (desirable).
• Experience in optical, retail or pharmacy environments.
• Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to demonstrate empathy, initiative and professionalism.
• Competency in Microsoft Office applications and willingness to learn new systems and processes.
• 6 months paid parental leave.
