Job summary

Sims Limited in Australia is seeking a hands-on Yard Hand to join our Brooklyn team on the afternoon shift (3:00pm - 11:00pm). You’ll be on the ground handling materials, operating equipment, and helping keep the yard safe and efficient.

You'll gain experience across warehousing, recycling, and logistics with full training and development opportunities in a fast-paced environment dedicated to sustainability and responsible resource recovery.

Qualifications

• Experience in warehousing, labouring, or logistics is preferred.

We're seeking a hands‑on Yard Hand to join our Brooklyn team on the afternoon shift (3:00pm - 11:00pm).

This is a practical role where you'll spend the shift on the ground working with materials, operating equipment and contributing to the safe and efficient running of the yard.

Whether you have experience in warehousing, recycling, manufacturing, labouring, logistics, or a similar environment, this is a fantastic opportunity to build a long‑term career in the recycling and resource recovery industry. Full training will be provided.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Yard Manager, you'll play an important role in the day‑to‑day operation of the yard.

This is a physically active role where you'll be working outdoors and alongside your team to sort, process, and prepare materials for recycling. You'll also interact with customers and assist with the safe movement of materials throughout the site.

No two days are the same, and you'll gain exposure to a wide range of equipment, processes, and responsibilities.

What You'll Be Doing

• Grading, sorting, and purchasing non‑ferrous scrap metals
• Loading and unloading trucks, trailers, and skip bins
• Operating forklifts and other site equipment
• Weighing, bagging, palletising, and preparing materials for shipment
• Maintaining accurate stock and material records
• Keeping the yard clean, safe, and organised
• Following all safety, environmental, and operational procedures
