Job summary

Sims Limited is seeking a hands-on Yard Hand for the Brooklyn site on the afternoon shift (3:00pm–11:00pm). You will spend the shift on the ground, sorting and preparing materials for recycling, operating site equipment, and assisting with the safe movement of materials. Training provided and career development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience in warehousing, recycling, manufacturing, labouring, or logistics environments.
• Previous forklift operation experience preferred.
• Ability to work outdoors and in a fast-paced team.

Responsibilities

• Sort, process, and prepare materials for recycling.
• Grading, sorting, and handling non-ferrous scrap metals.
• Loading and unloading trucks, trailers, and skip bins.
• Operating forklifts and other site equipment.
• Assist customers and provide excellent service.
• Maintain stock and material records.

Looking for a role where you can stay active, work with great people, and learn valuable new skills?

We're seeking a hands-on Yard Hand to join our Brooklyn team on the afternoon shift (3:00pm - 11:00pm).

This is a practical role where you'll spend the shift on the ground working with materials, operating equipment and contributing to the safe and efficient running of the yard.

Whether you have experience in warehousing, recycling, manufacturing, labouring, logistics, or a similar environment, this is a fantastic opportunity to build a long-term career in the recycling and resource recovery industry. Full training will be provided.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Yard Manager, you'll play an important role in the day-to-day operation of the yard.

This is a physically active role where you'll be working outdoors and alongside your team to sort, process, and prepare materials for recycling. You'll also interact with customers and assist with the safe movement of materials throughout the site.

No two days are the same, and you'll gain exposure to a wide range of equipment, processes, and responsibilities.

What You'll Be Doing

• Grading, sorting, and purchasing non-ferrous scrap metals
• Loading and unloading trucks, trailers, and skip bins
• Operating forklifts and other site equipment
• Assisting customers and providing excellent customer service
• Weighing, bagging, palletising, and preparing materials for shipment
• Maintaining accurate stock and material records
• Keeping the yard clean, safe, and organised
• Following all safety, environmental, and operational procedures
