Job summary

Sims Limited in Adelaide is seeking a Plant Operator to join our team and help manage the yard, grade, sort, load trucks, and operate forklifts. You will play a key role in ensuring materials are processed safely and efficiently while providing outstanding customer service in a busy environment.

You will work with a team, using basic numeracy and computer skills, and follow all safety procedures. Prior recycling, warehousing or hands-on experience is valued; forklift licence is highly regarded.

Qualifications

  • Strong work ethic and positive, can-do attitude.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify and sort different materials.
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
  • Previous experience in recycling, warehousing, labouring, manufacturing, construction, customer service, or a similar hands-on environment.
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-focused mindset.
  • Commitment to working safely and following procedures.
  • Basic numeracy and computer skills. Reliability, initiative, and the ability to work effectively in a busy environment.

Responsibilities

  • Grading, sorting, and purchasing a range of scrap metals
  • Loading and unloading trucks, skip bins, and trailers
  • Assisting customers with enquiries and providing a positive service experience
  • Operating forklifts and other site machinery and equipment
  • Weighing, bagging, palletising, and preparing materials for transport and stocktake
  • Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe work environment
  • Following workplace health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times
  • Supporting the wider team to keep the site running smoothly
