IAG, Australia’s largest general insurance group, is hiring an Operational Governance Principal. In this permanent, full-time role, you’ll shape governance strategy for a major technology transformation and collaborate with risk, cyber security and business teams to strengthen resilience.

You’ll influence senior stakeholders, establish governance forums and reporting, monitor risk appetite and vendor performance, and drive continuous improvement across platforms.

Qualifications

• Experience leading governance, risk, compliance or assurance initiatives in large organisations.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders and build trusted relationships.
• Strong understanding of governance, risk and control frameworks in practice.
• Experience guiding large-scale technology transformation programs.

As an Operational Governance Principal, you’ll play a key role in one of IAG’s most significant technology transformation programs. Working across business, technology, risk and cyber security teams, you’ll help ensure our governance frameworks, risk controls and decision‑making processes evolve alongside a rapidly changing technology landscape. What You’ll Do

• Shape and drive the operational governance strategy, roadmap and priorities across a complex technology transformation program.
• Lead governance, risk, compliance and assurance activities, including technology, cyber and AI‑related risk oversight, ensuring obligations are met and emerging risks are proactively managed.
• Establish and enhance governance frameworks, including forums, controls, reporting, performance measures and decision‑making processes.
• Monitor risk appetite and risk exposure, providing executive reporting and insights to support informed decision‑making across the transformation program.
• Influence senior stakeholders by providing clear insights, constructive challenge and practical solutions to complex governance issues.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen governance maturity, operational resilience and platform performance.
• Partner with technology teams, risk functions, cyber security specialists and external providers to achieve shared outcomes.
• Oversee vendor governance, ensuring service performance, compliance requirements and strategic dependencies are effectively managed.

What You’ll Bring

• Experience leading governance, risk, compliance or assurance initiatives within complex organisations.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders and build trusted relationships across diverse teams.
• Strong understanding of governance, risk and control frameworks in practice.
• Confidence working through ambiguity and supporting large scale transformation programs.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to turn complex information into clear recommendations.
• Experience managing vendor relationships, service performance or operational oversight activities.
• Exposure to technology, cyber security, operational resilience or regulated industry environments.
