Job summary

Australian Red Cross in Australia’s Northern Territory is seeking an experienced logistics/operational support professional to back the Senior Officer - Emergency Operations. The role focuses on coordinating with authorities and NGOs, managing training logistics and ensuring contractual compliance across emergency response and recovery activities.

Qualifications

• Experience coordinating with local authorities, community organisations and stakeholders to meet objectives.
• Strong admin and organisation skills, able to manage multiple tasks in high-pressure situations.
• Experience supporting grant management requirements: activation reports, financial reporting, quarterly & annual reviews.
• Excellent communication to engage diverse stakeholders, with cultural sensitivity to NT communities.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and negotiate with stakeholders to meet contractual requirements between Australian Red Cross and Department of Children and Families in both emergency and non-emergency situations.
• Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and groups within the NT emergency management sector.
• Foster trust and collaboration before, during and after emergencies to enhance outcomes and community resilience.
• Ensure training, volunteer readiness, capacity building and technical support align with contracts and secure ongoing funding.
• Coordinate logistics of training programs (PFA, ECT, ECM, AIIMS).
• Provide logistics and operational support for evacuation centres including shelter-in-place and welfare centres.

About the role

This position plays a pivotal role in assisting the Senior Officer - Emergency Operations, in overseeing and supporting the delivery of emergency response and recovery activities in the Northern Territory. This position focuses on providing essential operational, logistical, and coordination support to ensure compliance with contractual agreements, effective stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement of emergency services.

Day to day you will

• Assist in coordinating and negotiating with stakeholders to ensure contractual requirements between Australian Red Cross and Department of Children and Families are met during both emergency and non-emergency situations.
• Assist in maintaining strong relationships with multiple stakeholders and functional groups within the emergency management sector in the NT.
• Foster trust and collaboration before, during, and after emergencies to enhance outcomes and support community resilience.
• Assist in ensuring that training, volunteer readiness, capacity building, and technical support activities align with contractual obligations and are continuously strengthened to secure ongoing funding.
• Coordinate logistical aspects of training programs such as Psychological First Aid (PFA), Emergency Coordination Team (ECT), Evacuation Centre Management (ECM), and Australian Inter-service Incident Management System (AIIMS).
• Provide logistical and operational support for the effective management of evacuation centres, including shelter-in-place, pop-up centres, welfare centres, and recovery centres.

What you will bring

• Experience working collaboratively with local authorities, community organisations, and stakeholders to achieve common objectives
• Strong administrative and organisational skills with the proven ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities during high-pressure situations.
• Experience supporting real-time monitoring and compliance with grant management requirements, including after-activation reporting, financial reporting, quarterly reporting, and annual grant reviews.
• Communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Knowledge of Indigenous culture and sensitivity to community needs in the Northern Territory context is advantageous.
• A current driver’s licence and Ochre Card (or the ability to obtain one) are mandatory requirements for this role
