Western Freight Management (WFM) is seeking an experienced Night Shift Supervisor to lead and support our overnight transport operations. This is a critical role focused on ensuring driver safety, service reliability, and seamless operational continuity throughout the night.
Reporting directly to the National Operations Manager, you will work autonomously while maintaining strong communication with day operations, compliance, workshop teams, and customers.
WFM is a family-owned transport business with depots located in Eastern Creek, Orange and Parkes (NSW), Tullamarine (VIC), and Bundamba (QLD).
We provide linehaul services to a range of blue-chip clients and operate a modern fleet of over 150 trucks and trailers.
Nightly and daily duties include:
Monitoring drivers via tracking systems to ensure schedules and linehaul commitments are met
Managing driver fatigue using Guardian systems and pre-arranged wake-up calls
Providing daily email communication to customers regarding linehaul ETA updates
Monitoring and reporting over-speed events
Managing and coordinating vehicle breakdowns, including recovery strategies to minimise customer impact
Issuing verbal warnings, warning letters, and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) in coordination with the Compliance Department and National Operations Manager
Coordinating and facilitating driver training as required under NCR outcomes
Delivering and collecting vehicles from repairers as required
Transporting drivers to and from motels as required
Completing overnight operational reporting
Conducting structured handovers with AM and PM operations teams
Working closely with the Workshop Manager to ensure vehicles are rotated appropriately for maintenance
Liaising with managers across all depots to support after-hours operational requirements
Performing other duties as required to support safe and efficient overnight operations
Experience in transport, logistics, or fleet operations (supervisory experience preferred)
HC licence highly regarded
Strong knowledge of heavy vehicle and linehaul operations
Mechanically minded with practical problem-solving ability
Computer literate, with confidence using Outlook, Excel, and internal systems
Strong communication skills and the ability to deal professionally with drivers, customers, and management
Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in an overnight environment
