There is also a genuine career pathway into Operations Management, with the successful person being developed to take on greater responsibility as they prove themselves.
Working closely with the PM Operations Manager and another Team Leader, you will help lead an afternoon/evening team of approximately 25 operational staff.
Your focus will be keeping the operation moving — ensuring freight is processed correctly, trailers are loaded and dispatched on time, labour is effectively allocated and any issues are identified and resolved before they impact the night’s operation.
You will be working in a busy express freight environment, where timing, communication and problem‑solving are critical.
The role will suit someone who understands the fundamentals of a transport yard and has experience with linehaul, interstate or regular scheduled freight movements.
The most important thing is genuine freight experience.
We’re looking for someone who understands what happens in a transport yard and has worked around the movement of regular, aggregated and interstate freight.
This is a role for someone who is ready for more responsibility.
You will be joining an established operation with a strong track record and a leadership team that is committed to developing its people. The successful person will have the opportunity to learn the business, build their operational leadership capability and progressively take on greater responsibility.
The long‑term pathway is particularly attractive for someone who wants to move beyond Team Leader/Supervisor level and ultimately progress into Operations Management, with significantly greater earning potential as that progression occurs.
You will also be joining an operation that has invested in its Sydney facilities and is focused on building greater stability and performance across the depot.
Resilient. Accountable. Practical.
Someone who doesn’t stand back when the operation gets busy.
You will be comfortable making decisions, managing people, solving problems and keeping the team focused on what needs to be achieved. You will have the confidence to address issues when standards aren’t being met while also being someone the team can rely on when things get challenging.
Most importantly, you’ll understand that freight doesn’t stop because there is a problem — you need to find a solution and keep the operation moving.
If you’re an experienced freight or transport Team Leader/Supervisor looking for the next step in your career, this could be an excellent opportunity to move into a broader operational leadership role with a genuine pathway towards Operations Management.
Previous transport/freight experience and the ability to work the PM shift are key requirements for this position.
