Job summary

METRIX IT SOLUTIONS INC. is seeking a Network Operations Center (NOC) Engineer for an onsite contract role in Redmond, WA.

You will join a team delivering Tier 1 support for software-defined network services and work across incidents, monitoring, and on-call rotations. The ideal candidate has 4+ years in network operations or technical support, CCNA or equivalent, and experience with TCP/IP, routing, switching, and monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Splunk, Grafana, and Datadog.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of Network Operations / NOC / Network Support experience.
• Certified - CCNA Routing & Switching (equivalent certification)
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, Routing & Switching
• Experience troubleshooting network incidents, escalations, working with ISP
• Experience in Software Defined Networks and BGP, OSPF Protocols
• Monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Splunk, Grafana, Datadog)

Responsibilities

• Respond to and escalation network-related incidents in a timely manner, diagnosing and troubleshooting network issues, including connectivity problems, performance degradation, and security concerns.
• Support deployment and onboarding of network capabilities across geographic regions, assisting in the monitoring, testing, and reporting of new network infrastructure, including satellites, gateway sites, and points of presence.
• Monitor and investigate network performance to ensure maximum efficiency and operational uptime for customers.
• Build and enhance tools, develop best practices, and refine operational procedures to measurably improve network operations.
• Manage Severity 2 and 3 tickets while attending on-call rotations during business hours and weekends.
• Lead and mentor other Network Support Engineers with network issue diagnosis and operating procedures.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including network, software, and security engineers.

Shift: Morning and Evening

Shift Timings:

• Morning Shift: Around 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM or 3:00 PM (8-hour shift).
• Evening Shift: 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

Job Summary

The Network Operations Center (NOC) team within Networking Software is responsible for Tier 1 support for software-defined network services. You'll join a growing team of network operations engineers supporting the client's network. Our services operate at scale and support workloads critical to customer network performance and availability, so a passion and discipline around operational excellence is key.

Key Job Responsibilities

Basic Qualifications

• 4+ years of software development or 4+ years of technical support experience.
• Experience scripting in modern programming languages.
• Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems.
• Experience with network engineering for large-scale networks, including diagnosing network-impacting issues.
• Knowledge of internet fundamentals and cloud computing concepts.
• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent, or experience with networking and troubleshooting (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, switching, firewalls, LAN/WAN, traceroute, iperf, dig, cURL, or related) at an advanced level.

Mandatory

• 4+ years of Network Operations / NOC / Network Support experience
• Certified - CCNA Routing & Switching (equivalent certification)
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, Routing & Switching
• Experience troubleshooting network incidents, escalations, working with ISP
• Experience in Software Defined Networks and BGP, OSPF Protocols

Optional / Preferred

• Basic AWS/Azure/GCP networking knowledge

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with programming/scripting (Batch, VB, PowerShell, Java, C#, Chef, Perl, Ruby, and/or PHP), or experience in SQL Server/MySQL and experience with automation and any version control tools.
• Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure, or experience driving collaborative projects from conception to delivery.
• Experience with satellite-based telecommunication networking.
