Job summary

Ericsson’s NOC Back Office team in Australia supports reliable mobile core and IP network services. You will implement, test, and validate network changes, maintain core network availability, and resolve production issues to ensure service performance.

You will collaborate with customers and internal teams to improve service performance, participate in after-hours support, and contribute to incident resolution across LTE/5G core architectures, EPC, and IP networking.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in telecom, IT, or related field.
• At least five years of experience in telecom, IT ops, or network engineering.
• Understanding of LTE/5G Core topology.
• Knowledge of EPC elements: MME, HSS, SGW, PGW, PCRF/SAPC, UDC/CUDB, DNS.
• Experience with Linux, Kubernetes, containerized apps.
• Certifications CCNA/CCNP valued; RHCSA/others also valued.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Customer-focused with pressure handling for incidents.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance to maximize network availability and reliability.
• Investigate network performance issues and work with customers and internal teams to identify and implement improvements.
• Collaborate with engineering, field operations, and project teams to support service delivery and incident resolution.
• Participate in customer meetings and provide technical support and recommendations as required.
• Perform security, audit, and operational reporting in accordance with Ericsson managed-services processes.
• Prioritize assigned tasks and complete work within agreed timelines and service commitments.
• Participate in after-hours support and on-call activities as required.

You will

To be successful in this role, you must have

• A degree or equivalent experience in telecommunications, information technology, computer engineering, or a related field.
• At least five years of experience in telecommunications, IT operations, or network engineering.
• Understanding of LTE/5G Core network architecture and topology.
• Knowledge of EPC network elements, including MME, HSS, SGW, PGW, PCRF/SAPC, UDC/CUDB, and DNS/IPWorks; knowledge of 5G Core elements is an advantage.
• Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals, IS-IS, OSPF, BGP, and telecommunications protocols including S1AP, SCTP, GTP, Diameter, and LDAP.
• Experience with Linux operating systems, common command-line tools, Kubernetes, and containerized applications.
• Experience with Cisco, Juniper, Ericsson, or similar networking equipment.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot technical issues in production environments.
• CCNA, CCNP, RHCSA, or similar certifications are valued.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical matters clearly.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Customer-focused approach and the ability to manage operational incidents under pressure.
• Strong ownership, prioritization, and delivery focus to achieve service, quality, and SLA objectives.
• Willingness to participate in after-hours support and on-call activities.

Additional experience that would be an advantage

• Experience supporting Ericsson Core Network products.
• Basic scripting or automation skills using Shell, Python, or similar tools.
• Exposure to F5 load balancers, firewalls, and IP security.
• Understanding of Ericsson eNodeB/gNodeB or Mini-Link platforms.
