Job description

Specialist Support Solutions Pty Ltd – Rockhampton QLD

Great support starts with a great roster.

Specialist Support Solutions is looking for an experienced Rostering Officer to keep our growing Rockhampton NDIS service organised, responsive and reliable. You will match the right people to the right supports, keep everyone informed when plans change, and respond quickly to coverage issues before they become service problems.

This is a hands-on, high-trust role for someone who likes owning the detail, communicating early and getting things sorted. Your work will directly shape participant consistency, staff confidence and the quality of support delivered every day.

The role
  • Immediate Start

  • Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm

  • Based in Rockhampton CBD

  • Participation in the on-call roster: one week on-call, followed by three weeks off

  • Work closely with Service Delivery leadership, support workers, participants, families and other providers

  • Remuneration aligned to the SCHADS Award, Social and Community Services Level 2.1–3.1, depending on relevant experience, plus superannuation.

  • Career progression opportunities, including potential advancement to a Rostering Coordinator role as Specialist Support Solutions grows.

What you will do
  • Develop, maintain and publish accurate participant rosters in advance.

  • Match support workers to shifts using approved participant profiles, worker skills, competency and compliance records, availability, compatibility, preferences and established rostering procedures.

  • Respond promptly to unplanned leave, shift vacancies and changing participant needs.

  • Communicate roster changes clearly and promptly with participants, families and support workers.

  • Maintain accurate participant and shift information in rostering systems, including operational instructions, vehicle allocations and relevant shift notes.

  • Take reasonable steps to arrange suitable shift coverage in accordance with approved procedures, and escalated immediately where safe coverage cannot be secured.

  • Ensure complete, accurate handover information is available for the on-call team.

  • Escalate risks, service gaps, complaints and participant concerns to the appropriate manager without delay.

  • Provide after-hours roster support during your allocated on-call week, following approved on-call procedures, arranging urgent coverage where appropriate and escalating participant safety, clinical, incident or unresolved service-delivery risks to the relevant manager.

  • Build positive, professional relationships with support workers and help create stable, reliable participant teams.

About you

You are organised, confident on the phone and proactive in communicating and collaborating with the Service Delivery team. You think clearly under pressure, follow things through and understand the importance of reliable, person-centred support.

You will ideally have:

  • At least two years’ rostering or coordination experience in NDIS, disability, aged care, community services, healthcare or a similarly fast-paced service environment.

  • Strong experience coordinating complex and changing rosters.

  • Excellent communication skills, with confidence speaking directly with participants, families and employees.

  • A high level of accuracy, organisation and attention to detail.

  • The ability to manage competing priorities, resolve routine rostering issues within established procedures, recognise when escalation is required and remain calm during urgent situations.

  • Strong computer skills and confidence learning rostering, client-management and communication systems.

  • A genuine understanding of person-centred support and the importance of reliable, consistent services.

  • A current NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willingness to obtain one, along with any other clearances required for the role.

  • Current Australian work rights and a current driver licence.

Why join Specialist Support Solutions?

You will join a hands-on NDIS provider where good rostering genuinely matters. Your work will directly influence participant safety, staff confidence, service quality and the day-to-day experience of the people we support.

We offer:

  • Consistent full-time weekday hours.

  • A clear on-call rotation: one week on, three weeks off.

  • Supportive operational leadership and clear expectations.

  • Ongoing training, coaching and professional development.

  • A meaningful role where you can make a real difference every day.
