Job summary

Visy in Melbourne is seeking a hands-on operator to support day-to-day manufacturing activities across forming, inspecting and packaging. You will perform tool changes, assist with set-ups and work across departments in a dynamic, safety-conscious team environment.

This entry-level opportunity offers full training, a 9-day fortnight, 35-hour weeks and a day shift from 7:00am to 3:30pm. A mechanical background or trade qualification is welcome, plus good communication and attention to detail.

Qualifications

Role Details

Reporting to the Shift Manager, you'll support smooth day-to-day operations while building broad manufacturing skills and opportunities to specialise over time.

This is a dynamic, hands-on role working a day shift roster (7:00am-3:30pm), on a 9-day fortnight with a 35-hour week.

What You’ll Do

• Perform tool and mould changes on forming equipment when changing between bottle, jar and glass formats
• Assist with job changes and associated set-up tasks
• Work across the Forming, Inspecting and Packaging departments as required
• Perform quality inspection checks on newly formed bottles and other procedural checks
• Operate computer production systems and interfaces
• Troubleshoot - assist with general mechanical maintenance and fix minor mechanical problems
• Contribute to a safe working environment for yourself and the team

What You'll Bring

• A strong mechanical aptitude is essential - a trade background or recent graduates from a mechanical, engineering or related discipline are encouraged to apply
• Hands-on experience with tools and machinery - through work, study or practical projects
• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is well regarded but not essential - full training will be provided
• The ability to work in a challenging environment - hot, dusty and loud!
• Strong communication skills, ability to work under pressure and a good eye for detail
