Job summary

Visy Glass is seeking Glass Production Operators for the Adelaide Plant in West Croydon. You will work in a hot environment, operate forming machines, perform quality checks and packaging, and participate in continuous improvement.

The role offers a 3-on 2-off rotating shift roster across days/nights in a 24/7 facility. Ideal candidates have manufacturing experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work in a team under pressure, with a readiness for some heavy lifting and manual

Qualifications

• Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment with strong mechanical aptitude.
• Fit to perform physical tasks including standing, walking and lifting.
• Good communicator and able to work under pressure.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate forming machines with regular checks, lubrication and component changes.
• Operate and maintain inspection and packaging equipment.
• Perform glass quality checks and rectify faults.
• Monitor production parameters and record data.
• Participate in 5S and continuous improvement.
• Forklift driving and pack centre operations.
• Conduct safety checks and maintain housekeeping.
• Work on a 24/7 facility with a 3-on 2-off night/afternoon/day rotating roster.

We currently have several vacancies for Glass Production Operators to join our manufacturing team at the Adelaide Plant based in West Croydon. We are offering the opportunity to work in a Multi-Skilled Operator capacity on a permanent full time basis on a 3-on 2-off 7 day rotating night-afternoon-day shift roster.

What you’ll do:

You will be required to work in a hot and demanding environment, forming each bottle to the required standards. At times the manufacturing process will require performing minimal heavy lifting with support from other team members and lifting devices. If you’re someone that doesn’t mind a bit of manual handling and getting your hands dirty, then you’ll fit right in! The role also requires you to work in the ‘cold end’ part of the process working with inspection and packaging equipment performing quality and other procedural checks - ensuring our customers and end consumers receive the very best possible glass containers.

You will initially start on day shift spending a few weeks learning the basics and fundamentals of the role before moving to your rotating shift roster.

Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

• Operation of the forming machines including regular checks, lubrication and changing of components and ancillary equipment, and troubleshooting;
• The operation and upkeep of inspection and packaging equipment;
• Glass quality checks and rectification of faults;
• Monitoring production parameters and data entry;
• Continuous improvement and 5S practices;
• Forklift driving and pack centre operation;
• Safety checks and general housekeeping;
• 24/7 manufacturing facility – working a 3-on 2-off night-afternoon-day rotating shift roster.

What you'll bring:

You will ideally hold extensive experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment, being able to demonstrate a very strong mechanical aptitude. Whilst not essential, workers with a trade and/or glass manufacturing background will be looked on favourably.

You are fit to perform a range of physical tasks, including standing, walking and lifting – all in a safe and considered manner. You’re a good communicator and have the ability to work well under pressure.

You’ll be able to work independently and use your initiative to get things done, at the same time, enjoy working as part of a team. No job is too small, you will be able to adapt to changes in work loads and keen to learn new skills, processes and procedures.
