Job summary

GHD is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead design across mining and mine infrastructure projects in Queensland. You will deliver practical, high-quality engineering solutions, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and mentor engineers within the Resources group.

Qualifications

• A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• 5-10+ years’ relevant engineering experience, with mining/resources or heavy industrial exposure.
• Strong knowledge of pumping, piping, mine infrastructure, plant design or mechanical equipment.
• Experience delivering projects through multiple lifecycle stages.
• Ability to lead technical work and coordinate deliverables.
• Strong problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Interest in mentoring others and building team capability.
• Experience contributing to bids, proposals, estimates or client development.
• Professional accreditation or progress towards accreditation is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver mechanical design across mining and mine infrastructure projects.
• Provide technical leadership across pumping, plant, services and equipment.
• Manage engineering activities from planning through project delivery.
• Contribute to feasibility studies, options, and risk analysis.
• Develop practical, technically sound client-focused solutions.
• Collaborate with clients, project managers and multidisciplinary teams.
• Mentor and support the technical development of engineers.
• Contribute to proposals, tenders, and project pricing.
• Build trusted client relationships through delivery and advice.
• Apply sound commercial judgment alongside technical expertise.
