Job summary

The Mining Engineer at Alkane Resources’ Costerfield Operations in Central Victoria will be a key member of the Technical Services team, delivering design and planning for underground development, ventilation systems and critical services. You will drive risk assessments, QAQC and continuous improvement across projects, reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent.

• Underground inspections of working areas and areas to be designed.
• Design and modelling of mine ventilation and critical mine services.
• Ventilation QAQC to ensure designs are efficient and achieving safe outcomes.

• Leading technological and design improvement projects within the technical team.

Costerfield Operations, owned and operated by Alkane Resources Ltd, is situated in Central Victoria, east of Bendigo and surrounded by numerous towns within a 50km radius, offering a variety of residential options.

Our current operation runs an underground mine and processing plant that is responsible for producing gold and antimony. The mine's workforce consists of approximately 300 permanent employees who hold various roles in professional, technical, mining, processing, and trades.

Please note: Costerfield Operations is a residential mine and does not facilitate FIFO.

The Role

Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent the Mining Engineer will work as an integral member of our high-performing technical team to deliver professional development design and planning, ventilation and services management, and continuous improvement initiatives. As a Mining Engineer in the Technical Services department.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

• Development mine design, planning, and design documentation.
• Risk assessment and risk management.
• Underground inspections of working areas and areas to be designed.

The Person

We are seeking an individual who possesses:

• Tertiary qualifications in a relevant Engineering discipline
• Between 2 – 3 years’ experience essential
• Previous experience working underground
• Mine ventilation experience
• Strong commitment to workplace safety, continuous improvement and technical
• excellence
• Self-starter with a strong work ethic
• Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work as
• part of a focused technical team
• Ability to influence and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders
